天然なめしのレザーへ

ひとつひとつ手作業で
カラフルなジビエレザーを
贅沢にコラージュして仕上げた
こちらの作品は
もちろん一点ものです

大量生産では感じられない
手作業のあたたかさを感じていただけたら

いのちのカケラをつなぎあわせた
こちらの作品は

コラージュのデザインも。

経年変化すると、コラージュの重なった
凹凸部分から色が濃くなっていき
最後は全体的に深いブラウンになるまで
ゆっくりと育っていきます◎

こちらは長崎県諫早市内で駆除され
ジビエレザーHUMMINGBIRDのアトリエで
毛皮から革になった
イノシシ本革のみを扱っています

イノシシの駆除数は
年々増加しており
そのほとんどが廃棄されているのが現状です

やむを得ず、駆除されたいのち
せめて最後まで
大切にいただきたい

その想いで
全て手作業で仕上げています

イノシシ革は20年以上使える皮革と言われ
ヨーロッパでは
牛より軽くて強いイノシシの革を
【孫の代まで継ぐ革】として
祖父のカバンを、孫のお財布に作り変えるほど強い革、オーストリッチやクロコダイルに並ぶ高級な革として扱われています
日本でも昔は、火消し（消防団）がかぶる頭巾にも使われていました

⚪︎本製品は天然皮革のため、色むらや傷、シワなどの天然皮革特有の個性や、染色時の化学反応でついた黒っぽい斑点や白化などが見られる場合があります。
⚪︎特に野生傷はイノシシが山の中で生きていた証であり、野生革のみに見られる特徴です。
⚪︎ジビエレザーHUMMINGBIRDでは、強度に影響のある箇所を除き、革それぞれの個性・イノシシが生きていたストーリーとしてあえて傷をそのまま使用しています。野生革の味わいとして楽しんでいただけたら幸いです。
⚪︎ジビエレザーHUMMINGBIRDで使用している革は、ミモザやアカシアを主な原料とする天然成分でなめし・染色をしており、時期や個体差によってカラーの違いなどがあります。ご了承ください。
⚪︎天然皮革は雨や汗などの水分で濡れた場合、色ムラやシミになる場合があります。または色落ちにより衣類等を汚す場合がありますのでご注意下さい。万一濡れた場合は水分をよく拭き取ってから陰干しして下さい。

Gibier Leather Bill & Passbook Case

We are pleased to present a bill and passbook case made from wild boar leather (Gibier Leather).

The hides used in this piece were culled in Isahaya City, Nagasaki Prefecture, and came to our atelier by chance. They have been transformed into vegetable-tanned leather using methods that do not burden the environment.

Each piece is handcrafted, with colorful Gibier leather scraps collaged together, creating a one-of-a-kind work of art.

You can feel the warmth of handmade craftsmanship, something that mass production cannot offer.

This piece connects the fragments of life from multiple wild boars.

The interior uses soft, fuzzy vegetable-tanned leather, chosen for its luxurious touch.

Both the material—wild boar leather—and the heartfelt design make this a truly special piece, unlike anything else you’ll find.

Over time, the layered collage will develop depth, gradually darkening into a rich brown, creating a natural, beautiful patina.

These hides come exclusively from wild boars culled in Isahaya City, Nagasaki Prefecture, and are transformed into leather at the HUMMINGBIRD atelier.

The number of culled boars is increasing every year, and most are still discarded.

We believe that these lives, taken out of necessity, should at least be honored and respected to the very end.
Every piece is handcrafted with this intention.

Wild boar leather is said to last over 20 years.
In Europe, it is lighter and stronger than cow leather, used as “heirloom leather” passed down to grandchildren. Grandfather’s bags can be remade into grandchildren’s wallets. It is considered a luxury leather alongside ostrich and crocodile.
Historically in Japan, it was also used for firefighters’ headgear.

• Resistant to water, friction, and scratches
• Extremely light (2/3 the weight of cow leather)
• Maintenance-free leather similar to human skin composition
• Tanned entirely with natural ingredients, safe for all ages from babies to seniors

Before Purchasing
• This product is made from natural leather, so variations in color, scars, wrinkles, and marks caused by chemical reactions during dyeing may appear.
• Wild scars are proof that the boar lived freely in the mountains, a feature unique to wild leather.
• HUMMINGBIRD intentionally preserves these marks (except where structural strength is affected) to let you enjoy the story of each animal.
• Leather is tanned and dyed using natural mimosa and acacia ingredients. Colors may vary depending on season and individual hides.
• Natural leather may stain or discolor from water or sweat and may rub off on clothing. If wet, gently wipe and dry in the shade.
• Leather is delicate. Please handle with care for long-lasting use.
