The boars are culled in Isahaya City, Nagasaki Prefecture, and their hides are carefully transformed from fur into leather at the Gibier Leather HUMMINGBIRD atelier. The number of wild boars culled each year continues to increase, and sadly, most of their hides are still discarded. These lives were taken out of necessity. At the very least, we wish to honor them by using every part with care and respect. At our HUMMINGBIRD studio, we process the hides starting from the raw skin. Wild boar culling numbers continue to rise every year, and the sad reality is that most are simply discarded. Because their lives were taken out of necessity, we want to honor them— and use what remains with care, right to the very end. The wallet features undyed natural leather (Nume leather) that will gradually darken and develop a unique patina over time.
