This piece is made from undyed boar leather, hand-dyed with indigo in the atelier to create a beautiful gradient effect. Unlike cow leather from farmed animals, wild leather is never perfectly uniform. Scratches, raised fibers, and color variations are all natural characteristics of Gibier Leather—these are the very features that make wild leather unique. At Hummingbird, we sometimes use the belly portion of the boar leather. When tanned, this part can appear fluffy or raised. While these areas may be slightly weaker than the smooth grain surface in terms of durability, they have a distinctive texture and charm that cannot be found in conventional leather. Even if there are raised fibers or small holes, each piece is a fragment of life, and the unique curves and imperfections are all incorporated into the artwork. From this philosophy, the Collage Series was born. This notebook cover, made from distinctive, fluffy leather, feels soft and velvety to the touch, with a luxurious finish reminiscent of fine velvet. Each design is one-of-a-kind. It fits A5-sized notebooks and can hold up to two 30-page notebooks (use a backing sheet if the overlapping leather creates unevenness). The fluffy areas and glossy areas will age differently, allowing you to enjoy a unique patina over time with each piece.
