毛皮から革へ

無染色のヌメ革をアトリエにて手染めした
藍色のジビエレザーです。
あえてグラデーションで柄をつくることで
ヌメ革と藍染の深い経年変化を
楽しんでいただけます

今回のこの作品は
引っ掻き傷や丸みを帯びた傷など
様々な生前傷があります
その傷も経年変化で味わい深く
育っていきます。

私たちがハンドメイドで作る作品は

ジビエレザーHUMMINGBIRDの
イノシシ本革は
すべて環境に影響を与えることのない
ミモザやアカシアを原料にしていますので
赤ちゃんから安心してお使いいただける革です

ジビエレザーという言葉は
あまり聞き慣れないかもしれませんが
年間60万頭以上駆除されているイノシシを
そのまま捨てるのではなく
（95%は今もただ廃棄されています）
せめて大切に、つなぎたい。

その想いで毛皮からスタートし
デザイン・製作までを
すべて手作業で行っています。
（革へのなめしは、東京都墨田区にある『やさしい革』さんにお願いしています）

人間とのバランスを保つため
やむを得ずいただいたいのち。

⚪︎本製品は天然皮革のため、色むらや傷、シワなどの天然皮革特有の個性や、染色時の化学反応でついた黒っぽい斑点や白化などが見られる場合があります。

⚪︎ジビエレザーHUMMINGBIRDでは、強度に影響のある箇所を除き、革それぞれの個性・イノシシが生きていたストーリーとしてあえて傷をそのまま使用しています。野生革の味わいとして楽しんでいただけたら幸いです。
⚪︎ジビエレザーHUMMINGBIRDで使用している革は、ミモザやアカシアを主な原料とする天然成分でなめし・染色をしており、時期や個体差によってカラーの違いなどがあります。ご了承ください。
⚪︎天然皮革は雨や汗などの水分で濡れた場合、色ムラやシミになる場合があります。または色落ちにより衣類等を汚す場合がありますのでご注意下さい。万一濡れた場合は水分をよく拭き取ってから陰干しして下さい。

English Product Description

This piece is crafted from the “fragments of life” of a wild boar—
an animal culled out of necessity—
and given a new purpose through careful, respectful craftsmanship.

From hide to leather.

This is hand-dyed indigo gibier leather, made from undyed natural vegetable-tanned leather.
By intentionally creating a gradient pattern,
you can enjoy the deep, rich aging of both the natural leather and the indigo dye over time.

This particular piece carries many natural marks—
scratches, rounded scars, and other traces from the boar’s life in the mountains.
These marks will grow more beautiful as the leather ages,
becoming glossy, smooth, and full of character.

Every item we make by hand is truly one of a kind.
We face each life with gratitude, and craft each piece with sincerity.

I would be honored if this wallet could spend many years by your side

Our Philosophy

Gibier leather began when we learned about the reality of wild boars being culled in Japan.
We believe that if a life is taken—out of necessity—
the least we can do is honor it and use it with care to the very end.

The small “fragments of life” left behind
can become gifts that shape a kinder future
for our planet and for ourselves.

For the present, and for the future,
we hope these fragments of life will continue to be connected with respect.

This is the feeling we carry into every piece we create.

About HUMMINGBIRD’s Leather

HUMMINGBIRD uses only genuine wild boar leather,
crafted from animals culled in Isahaya City, Nagasaki,
and processed from hide to leather in our atelier.

All of our leather is tanned with natural materials such as mimosa and acacia,
making it safe even for babies and gentle on the environment.

You may not often hear the term gibier leather,
but in Japan over 600,000 wild boars are culled every year—
and 95% of them are simply discarded.
Instead of letting these lives go to waste,
we choose to honor them.

We begin with the raw hide and carry out all design and production by hand.
(Our tanning is done by “Yasashii Kawa” in Sumida, Tokyo.)

Before Purchasing
•Because this is natural leather, color variation, wrinkles, scars, and dark spots caused by dye reactions may appear.
•Wild marks are proof of the boar’s life in the mountains—unique characteristics seen only in wild leather.
•At HUMMINGBIRD, we intentionally keep these natural scars (except where strength is compromised) as part of the animal’s story.
•Our leather is vegetable-tanned using mimosa and acacia, so colors may vary depending on the season and individual hides.
•Water (rain, sweat, etc.) can cause stains, discoloration, or color transfer onto clothing. If wet, wipe gently and dry in the shade.
•Leather is delicate. Please handle with care and enjoy it for many years.
