Made from Wild Boar Leather The fragments of life from a wild boar that once ran freely through the mountains and forests have been transformed into this one-of-a-kind wallet bag. Crafted by wrapping the body in a single piece of leather, this long wallet features a soft, rounded silhouette that feels gentle in the hand. Inspired by the cheerful colors of a chocolate banana, we combined a lucky yellow—believed to attract prosperity—with dark brown and camel leather to create a playful and heartwarming design. The center panel features leather from the boar's mane area. As the leather ages, the unique texture of the mane gradually emerges, creating an even richer character over time. The flap and card pockets use the natural edges of the hide. Marks left by the hunter's knife during the skinning process remain visible, becoming part of the leather's shape and story. At the atelier of Gibier Boar Leather HUMMINGBIRD, the hide is carefully transformed from fur into leather by hand. Wild boar culling numbers increase each year in Japan, and most of the hides are discarded. Lives taken out of necessity deserve, at the very least, to be honored until the very end. With that belief, every piece is handcrafted with care and gratitude. Wild boar leather is said to last over 20 years. In Europe, it is valued as a leather “to be passed down to the next generation.” It is lighter and stronger than cowhide, sometimes treasured enough to remake a grandfather’s bag into a grandchild’s wallet. It stands alongside ostrich and crocodile as a luxury leather. Historically in Japan, it was even used for traditional firefighters’ hoods due to its strength and durability.
